Taylor Swift, the rarest pop star, is one who has managed to cross over from country music to mainstream pop culture, becoming an icon of the world of pop. Swift also took on the entire globe in the process. Swift removed the influences of country as if they were an additional layer of skin, revealing she was one of the best singers/songwriters of her generation. Swift could make the event personal and use the moment to benefit. Her early songs including the neotribute in tribute to Tim McGraw were a testament of her ability. But, her follow-up album Fearless of 2008 proved to be an songwriter discovering her voice, and also a larger public. The album was hugely successful not only in the United States and six of the singles have been certified platinum in the wake of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and Belong with Me. But it also performed well around all over the world. Swift's second album, Speak Now, released almost two years after the first one, consolidated the success of this album. It propelled Swift to the heights of fame. She grew in popularity over the course of the three albums that followed - Red (2012), 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017). Swift had now established herself in an industry she felt was hers to be. While she reduced her production with folklore, and Evermore releases in 2020 she was nevertheless leading the way in pop music.
